Big news dropped last week from one of the industries fan-favorite developers, and it came in the form of a recent job listing. Valve Corporation is looking for an industrial designer with a background in “product design and manufacturing, ergonomics, usability, aesthetics, and surfacing,” according to a report released from Gameindustry International. In the past rumors have frequently surfaced about the company moving into the hardware market, including a rumor about working with Apple to develop a console, but this job posting seems to be a little too specific to have nothing to do with that end. So Portal 2 is set to release some interesting DLC on May 8th. Sorry it’s not the seductive and sexy Smooth Sax Expansion… It turns out the Perpetual Testing Initiative will be free content that will introduce a new mode that is similar to PSN’s echochrome and Little Big Planet’s level creator. In the PTI, you can create your own levels that will be published and rated by fellow community Steam members. Looks like fun, check it out! The current developments are starting to take on the theme of Secret Saturday News. Valve has something up its sleeve along the lines of aliens, spaceships, maybe three breasted space strippers? Ok, the last one is complete wishful thinking, but aliens and spaceships appeals to my tastes and tickles my sweet spot. Hopefully more info is leaked before E3 because I am dying to find out whats next! (thxlg)
As part of a program called Learn With Portals, Valve is giving away the original Portal for free on Steam until September 20th. Check out the full project bio and a link for the download on their website here. For the rest of us uneducated folk, a free game is always a good thing. Check out the video below to see kids in nice buildings messing with Portal. (thxign)
Dan Trachtenberg a film maker and a fan of the Portal series has been working on project called Portal: No Escape for a year and a half and it’s finally completed. Dan developed a short movie creating his own rendition of the Portal universe. Dan teamed with Mike Zarin, the man who established the first Inception trailer music, and created an amazing short sound track for No Escape. The video has been viral since August 23, 2011 which was two days ago and it already has over 2 million hits.
Suppress your boner obviously this movie is not real. If it was real then I think I would be the first person to go crazy and go streaking down the screen. Great artwork though and would make an excellent movie. (thxmov)
I bet a lot of women around the world have this very same picture in their mind. Except its more like “What I thought stripping would be like” que* sexy skinny clean girl, “What stripping is actually like” que* crack whore. (thxlolby)
Wow, pretty damn intricate. (thxflk)
Dota 2 is the sequel to Valve’s RTS RPG. Fans of the series are extremely excited for the release of the second to the series. Game will be available of PC and Mac.
The artists over at Mike’s Amazing Cakes in Washington have created some really amazing cakes. They have had other custom cakes go viral on the internet but this by far is my favorite. Yes! Everything on the core above is edible and awesome looking. This Mike and the Cake Boss should go head to head in a cake off. (thxkot)
Nothing like a little bit of humor to brighten up my Wednesday afternoon. This is the Team Fortress 2 dance off complements of Halolz. Okay it’s less of a dance off and more of a dance.
Smooth jazz seriously gets me going…if this was actually in the game I probably would never buy a video game again. I just went from six to midnight.
