All of the new maps in the just-announced Gears of War 3 DLC “Forces of Nature” take place during or after a natural disaster. There are three brand new maps, Cove, Aftermath and Artillery. Two old fan favorites will be making a return, Jacinto and Raven Down. Fog, snowstorms and tsunamis will make playing these maps quite an adventure. There are also special weapons hidden in the maps during Horde and Beast mode called “Elemental Cleavers.” The cleavers do different types of damage, like an imulsion cleaver that explodes on impact. Fans will also be treated to four character models and seven new weapon skins. Two of the weapon skins, which were designed based on community feedback, will need to be unlocked. There is also 250 gamerscore points added with this DLC.

We listen closely to your suggestions and feedback and we’re happy to announce that the game mode Guardian will be making a return with the “Forces of Nature” DLC. GT.TV’s Geoff Keighley talked with Epic Games Producer Rod Fergusson about the DLC on last night’s episode of GT.TV. You can view the video in it’s entirety HERE. The Forces of Nature DLC will be 800 MS Points and Gears of War 3 Season Pass holders will get the content free when it launches on March 27.

I am a little saddened that Mansion was not going to be included in this DLC, but am stoked for 4 maps to be added to my playlist. Gears of War 3 has been loaded with extras and fun times. I certainly hope that there will be some spinoffs in the future for Epic games, but who knows. Only time will tell, I guess.

Remember spending your hard earned quarters on arcade classics such as “WWF Slamfest”? If you’re anything like me you do, and you’re totally stoked about the release of THQ’s latest mobile game.

Back in the day, my parents were big into the bowling scene and would bowl every Monday night. I would spend a solid 4 hours in the bowling alley watching my parents bowl in their league and would eventually venture off into the little arcade area that was set up. My time would typically be spent playing Super Mario Bros, X-Men, Ninja Turles, NBA Jam, and WWF Wrestlefest! At the time, this game had it all. The graphics were the best for a wrestling game (at the time), all of the wrestlers had their very own signature move, and you could play in a Royal Rumble setting or Tag Team Championship Tournament (which was the only way you could be Demolition) in hopes of making it to Hawk and Animal, the Legion of Doom! Enjoy the video below to know what I’m talking about…

WWE Wrestlefest for the ipad, iphone, and ipod touch features both current AND classic stars including CM Punk, John Cena, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, Undertaker, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Randy Savage, Jake The Snake, Stone Cold, and Randy Orton. It’s basically the same type of game, just it is made for the “i” platforms rather than the button mashing of and actual arcade console. Solid game though and it’s only $2.99! Download it today!

Trials HD has been one of those games that since its release on Xbox360 I personally have not put it down. With so much to do in Trails HD the game seldom becomes repetitive or boring. It has been one of those games that just simply does not get old. Although many of times I have seen a player throw a controller out of frustration from the challenging levels, it still does not deter me or them from continuing from where they left off(Yes, it’s that addicting). So yes, I am extremely excited to see a sequel be released.

Redlynx recently released the trailer for Trails Evolution the sequel to the Xbox Live Arcade game Trails HD. The Trials Evolution trailer has literally blown my mind. If the trailer in any indication of what is in store for us in Trails: Evolution then it looks like Xbox Live Arcade game of the year have already been determined . The game is set to release sometime in spring of this year. Anyway check out the trailer it is amazing!

We gamers are familiar with the occasional crossing over of different games like the Marvel world with the Capcom world, Link and Samus appearing in Super Mario RPG, and Super Smash Bros. Even TF2 and other steam games are no stranger to crossovers. But how about this: Mass Effect… and Final Fantasy XII-2. That’s right. Currently in development (no pictures yet, unfortunately) are designs for FF13-2′s version of the Normandy Combat suit for Noel and possibly some thing will be made for Shepard and the gang.

Okay, I meant to get this up earlier, but between my pile of school work that isn’t getting done because of the Vita and my need for sleep that I’m not getting because of the Vita, I’ve been in a position where nothing I want to do is getting dedicated time. That said, my time spent has been long enough to get some pretty extensive impressions of the hardware and software so here’s my thoughts after the jump.

Hardware

No two ways about it; the Vita may be the most beautiful hardware I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with. The buttons and sticks all feel fantastic, and the front touch screen never seems to miss a touch (outside of games, but that’s a different problem). There have been gripes about the charger being dumb and the start / select buttons being awkwardly placed, but otherwise, great hardware. If I had one problem, and it is a minor one, it’s that your hand positions will – more than likely – cover the speakers, which seem to struggle to output good sound as it is, nevermind with your hands in the way. It isn’t a killer problem though.

Also, the cameras are crap, but who gives a buttfucking twittle-fish about a game console’s camera.

Interface

Sony tried to make the interface appear like the iPhone / Android, and it works similarly, but just crappier. Mind you, if this device came out before iOS, we’d be singing its praises, but after generations of iOS devices, the Vita’s OS just feels clunky by comparison. There’s also needless separation of apps that doesn’t feel right. The friend’s list is separate from friend chat, which is separate from friend messaging. That is lazy design if I ever seen it. Hopefully this will get cleared up in further patches.

On the other hand, the Playstation Store is a joy to navigate with the Vita compared to the PSP. The touch screen interface works wonderfully and everything is well organized. If Sony was trying to push the Vita as a touch device they have definitely succeeded.

Games

Uncharted Golden Abyss

I’ve been hearing from other sources this game doesn’t hold a candle to Uncharted 2 and 3, but since I didn’t play those, I felt right at home with this game. Prior to launch, the big news about Uncharted for the Vita was the optional touch integration for many of Drake’s actions. At first I thought I was going to ignore this, but as I continued playing, I can honestly say I was taken in by the design of the touch controls. Touch screen climbing makes those sections feel more organic, and QTE touch feels much more interesting than the standard mashing a button for no good reason. Uncharted also features back touch screen use that sucks donkey balls.

Hot Shots Golf

It’s Hot Shots Golf but prettier. It also features the worst voice acting in human history. Otherwise, it’s a perfect launch title to take up your time when you don’t feel like shooting things.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3

UMvC3 on the go? I couldn’t ask for more! Finding matches still sucks, but that is generally true with every Capcom fighter I’ve ever played. On the other hand…

Blaze Blue

This game has an opening option menu with 19 choices. Certainly the most bang for your buck on the Vita. Also features great net code.

Touch My Katamari

It’s Katamari. You already know if you’re going to like it. If you like wonkey Japanese humor and aren’t already sick of the series, give it a go; otherwise, avoid at all costs.

Lumines

If Uncharted isn’t your thing, then this is the must have launch title. Great music, great fun!

Dungeon Hunter Alliance

It’s a 99 cent game for $40. Is it worth it? Question 1) Are you into dungeon crawlers and want one to play on the go? Question 2) Do you have an iPhone?

If you answered yes to both then do not get this game on the Vita, but if you don’t have anything else to play Dungeon Hunter with, give this game a go!

Rayman Origins

Makes a great case for combing traditional controls with touch screen. I love it and you will too.

Around the time Grand Theft Auto III was hitting the shelves, other companies wanted to capitalize on the idea of a sand box city where one can steal cars and shoot guns at whoever you please. Among these games was True Crime who added the aspect of good cop/bad cop. Since receiving mixed reviews in its last installment True Crime: New York in 2005, Luxoflux has dropped out of the radar. Until now.

Originally named True Crime: Hong Kong before the project was cancelled, Sleeping Dogs looks to bring that same good cop/bad cop sandbox city to the PS3 and the 360 but with more emphasis on the environment and old-school kung-fu. More footage can be seen in this video:

So I’ve been reading a lot about the PS Vita over the weekend, and I’m very happy about it. It certainly surprised me! And now that a Ninja Gaiden game will be released on the Vita…. GAH! Just make me wish I had it!
In Sigma Plus, you help Ryu take revenge on the Vigor Empire after basically massacring your clan. You have the usual, massive ninja techniques and technical flips, along with your trusty Dragon Sword. Only here, your mission is to also beat the all High-and-Mighty Holy Emperor to retrieve the the magic sword “Ryuken.”
Must be a nice weapon if the Emperor wanted it.
It’ll be released in just a few days on Feb. 22 you can get Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus for $39.99 (+tax of course..)
