Danica Patrick to appear in Sonic’s crap racing game

In an effort to generate huge sales for Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, it was announced at E3 that US auto racer Danica Patrick will be featured in this game.

Come on! No one cares! No one wants to see Sonic behind the wheel of a car. He has supersonic speed, hence the name. Why the hell would he need to drive a car?!

Fans of Danica Patrick should shake their heads in shame at this misuse of this beautiful woman. But don’t worry this game won’t see another sequel.

Microsoft beats Nintendo to the Punch with Smartglass

I won’t go into too much detail on logistics because much has been covered on that already (check out the link at the bottom of the page for a great summary), but Microsoft has seemingly just punched Nintendo in the face with its unveiling of the SmartGlass technology at this year’s E3.  Nintendo’s one trump card is the ability of the Wii U’s controller.   Their goal of “creating something unique” was surely achieved as neither Sony nor Microsoft probably ever thought of bringing a tablet into the platform gaming equation.

Nintendo’s Pre-E3 Wii U Hardware reveal video

That trump card is double sided however.  No one will ever question its innovation, but what I (and probably a lot of people) have problems with is the price of said innovation.  The funny thing is we don’t even know the pricing, but I can already sense that having a family friendly setup for the Wii U is going to be hella expensive.  The console itself will probably be $300-$400.  If we want to take advantage of the new controller, we’ll probably want one or two of those at probably $100 each.  We’ll of course want 4 of the stylish new gamepads probably priced around $50 each.  Don’t forget about the games, we’ll take a couple of those for $60 each.  That’s somewhere around the realm of a thousands dollars.

Nice setup, but It’ll cost ya.

Go back to Monday, the first day of E3.  At this point, everyone is filling time, waiting for Tuesday.  You see, at E3 new hardware supersedes all and only one company was prepared to show their new stuff.  Right off the bat, but somehow seemingly out of left field came Microsoft… their unquestioned ability at software creation would not be denied.

Not only is Microsoft promising to take the Wii U on directly with SmartGlass, it’s doing so with a much more logical implementation, harnessing players’ existing technology, rather than bringing a big, hefty new controller into the picture. Naturally, Microsoft has the upper-hand in that respect, having developed its own PC, smartphone and tablet operating systems. Nintendo, meanwhile, has been outright defiant when it comes to mobile integration, having taken a firm and vocal stand against non-console-based mobile gaming.

In short, Microsoft is achieving much of the same of what Nintendo is bringing to the table, only without any new (expensive) hardware.  They’ve pretty much done exactly what Nintendo has done, but cheaper, faster, and only time will tell if it’s done better.  With Monday gone, Tuesday has arrived and the flood of Nintendo footage, news, and overall hype has come.  No doubt Nintendo will be king of E3 this year… I can’t help but wonder if Microsoft has, even just slightly, stolen a bit of that spotlight.

Marvel Heroes On The Rise

It’s been almost a year and 4 months since DC debuted its Massively Multiplayer game, DC Universe Online, on PS3 Microsoft Online. Now, when times are is at its peak for Marvel and its respective departments, Marvel is about to release Marvel Heroes MMO. News are out on Marvel.com, the details are being given out by a leading game developer/publisher/operator for mmo games Gazillion Entertainment and designed by Secret Identity Studios.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis, author of ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, NEW AENGERS, SECRET INVASION and countless other successes, “Marvel Heroes” is inspired by some of the most popular tales and events in Marvel Comics history. There may be hints of events like Civil War (even though it’s already been tackled by Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2), Secret Invasion, Siege, or even the recent Marvel Event, Fear Itself.

The game is set to have at least 8,000 characters for players to choose from. From classic heroes like members of The Avengers to the misunderstood mutant heroes The X-Men, From Cosmic Entities like the Silver Surfer and Guardians of the Galaxy to Street Guys like The Punisher, Moon Knight, and Daredevil. The list goes on and on and on. Trust me, with 8,000 characters, it is a long list.

Wii’s Battleship Game: Reviewed

So Battleship the game was released. No surprise since the much hyped movie of the same name hit box office shores just recently. The results? “Meh”. Not a lot of games come out just as good or better than their TV or Movie counter part with just a few exceptions. My personal favorite? Superman 64.

But I digress. This game, according to this review, came out much better than the movie. Though that’s not saying much.

“Hasbro’s board game Battleship recently saw its first—and hopefully last—film adaptation. And of course, you cannot have movie about aliens and battleships without a throwing together a video game of some kind. However, unlike the Call of Duty knockoff PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players were subjected to, Wii owners get a relatively competent turn-based strategy game with a less than spectacular story.”

(thxnw)

Terrible story, but what did you expect? IT’S BATTLESHIP! It’s a board game where two kids guess the positions of ships. If anyone tries to put a story line in that, they’d be better off trying to make a story out of Jenga. Or Snakes and Ladders. Or better yet, take the movie Pearl Harbor and slap the Battleship logo on it. I guarantee you they wouldn’t have to rely on Rihanna as a crutch actor if they did that.

But back to the game. What did they do right? Think of it as the old game Advanced Wars but on a Wii. That’s pretty much it. Review said it was challenging but no multiplayer? Yeah, because the only thing more sad about playing Battleship by yourself is playing Battleship for the Wii which forces you to play it by yourself.

EA SPORTS Unveils Revolutionary Set of Game-Changing Innovations for FIFA Soccer 13

FIFA 13 will be having some “game-changing” changes to this year’s game when it comes out this fall. ”We are perfecting the best sports game in the world with innovations that capture all the drama and unpredictability of the real-world game,” said David Rutter, Executive Producer for FIFA 13. The things that will be affected by these changes are the artificial intelligence (AI), dribbling ball control, and even collisions in the field. This will make you have to think ahead before making moves because you will have to work smarter this time.

The artificial intelligence of the game will be smarter this year, so you will have to make sure you plan ahead while doing your moves. You will need to analyze space, break down the defense, and work hard to be successful. This will be as realistic as can be, because you are against the best of the best when you are in FIFA. Capitalize any situations in your favor, and you will have a higher chance for victory! Taking advantage of these situations will either help you or kill you, so be sure take every opportunity you get and exploit it!

Dribbling in this game will be changed as well. Every touch matters because they have now created the most comprehensive and intuitive dribbling system they have ever developed. The feature, “Complete Dribbling,” was inspired by the great Lionel Messi and combines the use of dribble touches and true 360 degrees of motion. It is more dangerous in 1-on-1 situations because you can be creative and you have more control than ever. Players are more explosive, change direction quicker and are even more effective when shielding the ball. All in all, this year’s dribbling will be very important and mastering these controls will make you unstoppable!

The collisions in the game will be more realistic that it ever has before. The defenders can push and pull for the dominant position, and you can be more physical while trying to win that battle. The bigger players will be able to use their size advantage even more now, and may force you to make bad decisions, especially when you are around them. There will be 13 different tactical kicks to provide unpredictability and dangerous plays. This year’s game will be very physical, so be sure to bring your A game.

Here are some of the other features that FIFA 13 will be having this year: an improved career mode, adding what all the fans wanted, new features to enhance the game’s online mode, more features for EA Sports Football Club, authenticity with more than 500 officially license clubs, and even more features will be announced in the months to come.

This game will be coming out this fall on the Xbox 360 (with Kinect support), PlayStation 3 (with Move support), PlayStation Vita, Wii, PC, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Portable (PSP), and iDevices. (thxea)

Rush Into Action With Spider-Man

Usually when a new super-hero movie comes out, the game hits stores the around or on the same time as the movie is showing. But that’s not the case with The Amazing Spider-Man game developed by Beenox and published by Activision. The game will be released on June 29, a couple of weeks before the film. The movie, a reboot set for a summer release, according to Wikipedia, on July 3rd here in the United States. It stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and his alter ego, the titular character Spider-Man. Emma Stone is cast as his girlfriend Gwen Stacy.

Here are some posters worthy of being framed and hung on every geek’s wall:

So, yesterday, there was a new trailer of the video game released to the public. It showcases on of many new features that can be found in the game. This particular skill being shown is web rush. Basically, every time you swing and shoot out webs, a slow-motion sequence is triggered giving you choices on the direction you want to go. I’m hoping this skill will be unlocked later in the game rather than start the game already having the skill in your arsenal. Anyway, here’s the new game trailer:

Xenoblade Chronicles

I have heard so much about this game in the past weeks that I decided to look into it. I did some research on this game and saw that it has gotten a lot of rave reviews from different publications such as GamePro and Game Informer.

The game itself looks amazing with interesting characters and formidable enemies. I am a fan of RPG games so I am immediately taken in by what this game has to offer. I am definitely going to check it out and you should too if you like what you see.

Xenoblade Chronicles was released on April 6 for Nintendo Wii.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two trailer and game footage

Mickey returns but with a sidekick!

Check out the trailer and game footage for, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. This game is expected to be released in September for Nintendo Wii, PS3 and Xbox360.

I am looking forward to playing this after playing the first game. Who would have thought that a game based on Mickey Mouse would be so fun? Epic Mickey was definitely not a happy and bouncy game geared towards children. The game was rather dark and showed a different side to Mickey rather than the cute and eternally cheerful representation that is attributed to him.

This time around, Mickey teams up with Oswald, the main protagonist of the first game. Oswald will follow Mickey during the game and provide Mickey with much needed help on their journey. Gamers will be able to utilize Oswald or have a second player control him.

Dear Lord… Please Let Some of These Latest Wii U Rumors be True

As we inch nearer to the ultimate gaming mecca (better known as E3), a very special type of gaming news seems to flood out of the woodwork, the rumors.  Now, Pre-E3 rumors almost never end up being true, but that doesn’t stop the millions of gamers from salivating at their potential.

Here’s some of the latest Wii U Rumors.

- Wii U models at E3 2011 and CES 2011 didn’t house optical drives
- games were put onto SD cards
- E3 2012 will see Wii U games off of SD cards and USB thumb drives
- Wii U size may have changed slightly, but in what direction we do not know
- redesigned Zapper and Classic Controller are being prepared
- Nintendo-branded HDMI cable is also being prepared
- Retro’s project will be shown at E3 2012 and is ‘massive’
- Wii U camera may have been upgraded to .7MP
- voice chat is up and running
- lots of Wii U/3DS software at Nintendo’s E3 2012 booth
- if there are any other last-minute mods to the Wii U, EA and Ubisoft are the only 3rd parties to know

Some of this information isn’t too exiting.  For instance, the .7 MP camera… honestly  I didn’t realize the megapixel number could be that small.  Also, while I’m pumped at the possibility of Nintendo finally moving into the true HD era, the thought of having to deal with proprietary “Nintendo-branded HDMI”  cables makes me want to punch a baby.

A possible size change (in any direction) is almost always a good thing.  I SERIOUSLY doubt they’ll be stripping features, unless they are truly unnecessary.  And if that’s the case, a larger unit could mean more features, and more features will always be a good thing.  A smaller unit could also mean they might be going with newer, smaller, faster chips and hardware.

I’m also loving the possibility of games running off SD cards or USB thumb drives.  Voice chat will also be a welcomed feature if it’s implemented.  And a redesigned zapper and classic controller?  Uhh yes, please?  That sounds like a great idea.

Rumors will be rumors, but holy hell if some of these come to fruition Nintendo might actually have a decent system on their hands.
