THQ and WWE Games have issued an update for their mega-popular itunes app, Wrestlefest. Now, you have access to some of the hottest new stars and two new legends, as well as the Wrestlemania 27 ring! Let’s review each of the characters, shall we?

Yokozuna: The entrance-wear is spot on. The only thing missing is Mr. Fuji. Yoko is wearing his black and white robe. In the ring, Yokozuna looks a little slim for a man that is 600+ lbs. He is wearing his signature Red Tights with Black Sumo-diaper thingy (please correct me) and has what seems like The Rock’s move set with the exception of various Banzai Drops.

Sgt. Slaughter: He looks like the classic mad man that crowds in the 80′s enjoyed. Fitted with hat and mirrored glasses during his entrance, he rocks the black unitard with camo shirt underneath. Move set is pretty basic and almost copied from WWF Slamfest’s version of The Sarge.

Alberto Del Rio: He was nicely done. His character styling is a throwback to a Mike Tyson’s Punchout Character. He struts to the ring like he really does with his long white scarf. In the ring, he has 2 customized moves (that I know of) being the Backbreaker and his signature cross armbar. 

The Miz: Of the new characters, I’m least impressed with him. First off, his hair is light-colored so he resembles Chris Jericho a moreso than the Miz. I have yet to do his finisher because of the random finisher glitch. He went through his custom motions and then DDT’d my opponent. The attire looks good, but I still think he’s more Jericho than Miz.

Zack Ryder: Somebody at THQ must be a HUGE Zack Ryder fan. This one is the most detailed character in the game. He walks to the entrance in a killer Saved By The Bell styled Purple Jacket with headband and sunglasses on playing to the crowd. In the ring, Zack’s attire is spot on to be modelled after the Z! True Long Island Story logoing. He has a killer tan, five o’clock shadow, and spiked hair (THQ definitely knows how to take care). He even does the WWWYKI Fist Pump! In the ring, Zack does his signature fist pump before delivering the Rough Ryder finisher.  Best character in the game! Nicely done!

The Wrestlemania 27 ring is just kind of meh for me. It doesn’t add anything unique to the game. You rarely see the ring apron (which is all that is really changed), so it really doesn’t matter to have the ring. The only ring, I’d be interested in is the Blue Mat WWF Slamfest ring. It was just kind of cool. Give me that one!

If you remember my initial review of the WWE Slamfest app, I said that it would be cool if Yokozuna was added to the game and then placed as the “boss” for the WTWM campaign. Hopefully when I go through it with Ryder, things will be a little different.

It also has been reported that WWE Wrestlefest will soon be hitting XBLA and PSN for download. No further details or dates have been given, so keep your eyes and ears open!
