Stranger’s Wrath Gets the HD Treatment!

So fifteen years ago, Oddworld Inhabitants released a game called Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee on the ancient (but holy) PlayStation. It was the first game in an exciting and unique “Quintology,” a saga of five video games. Over the years and evolution of our consoles, the development has slightly slowed down, but it hasn’t stopped our Oddworld raconteurs from dishing out four freakishly awesome titles.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath was the forth installment that was released way back in 2005 on the original Xbox and is now getting juiced up through the HD process for the PSN! If you like strange genre combinations like: dark, alien western, 1st/3rd person shooters, 3D platfomer, bounty hunters with a Clint Eastwood attitude, than this game is for you! Check out the trailer. Its out now!

Too many games, no es bueno

According to Richard Cobbett, we now have too many awesome games. So many that we don’t get to enjoy them properly and if we put them on the back burner our passion eventually fades or worse we hear those game killing spoilers. What do you think? More at computerandvideogames.

Happy Holidays from Link the Snowman!

Link in Snowman Form (thanks to gonintendo for the picture)

Happy Holidays everyone!

Looks like a big Zelda fan has taken some considerably effort to create Link in snowman form.

Major props for this guy for taking the effort to do so especially for using a considerable amount of urine to colorize this masterpiece.

Fire Emblem: first 3DS game to have paid download content

Nintendo is planning for the start of paid download content sales, for 3DS, starting March, 2012. This will be the very first game to have paid download content in the 3DS entry. Nintendo will also have paid download content for the Wii U as it seems.

Although Nintendo has been very mysterious regarding the 3DS version of Fire Emblem we do know it should be released sometime in Spring. This report suggests that March may be when the game is really released. Perhaps more details will be known tomorrow, when Nintendo will have a Direct broadcast, by CEO Satoru Iwata. You can watch here and here.

SWTOR: no mentions of midi-chlorians

Without the midi-chlorians, life could not exist, and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to us, telling us the will of the Force. When you learn to quiet your mind, you’ll hear them speaking to you. -some hot guy with long hair

That being said, no one likes midi-chlorians and the very mention of them cause most Star Wars fans to tremble in anger. Lead writer, Daniel Erickson, has verified that there will be no midi-chlorian talk and he knows. He has read every word that was written into the script, it wasn’t even a big deal that SWTOR has, oh you know, around 60 man years worth of writing in it.

Star Wars: the Old Republic over a million players

Well, it looks like this game was well worth the risk! EA shelled out a lot of bones, in a risky move to challenge its biggest competitor, Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, and according to EA over a million players were spending their holiday in front of their computers.

Here are some stats from EA:
Over 60 million in-game hours — equivalent to watching all six Star Wars movies over 4 million times
Over 850,000 Sith Warriors and over 810,000 Jedi Knights created
Over 260 million quests completed
Over 44 million PvP battles
Over 9 million space combat missions completed
Over 3 billion NPCs killed

Looks like it’s gonna be a green Christmas for EA this year.
